that guy with jinglebells in ass was so annoying :D i probably wouldnt noticed it as a fighter with mask and stuff goping on but msut be real pain in the ass for bystanders :D Buckler finals were nice.

I guess that with rapier, the rules are somewhat similar to Olympic fencing in that only the first hit counts (scores the only point in a round)? At least that's what it looks like to me. I note that with longsword duels, both participants can score multiple points in one round.

Ian Broderick's ice cold parry-riposte style is second to none and an absolute joy to watch. He also has a great sense of timing on the attack.. he'll catch you on the blink if you're not careful.

Part of sport is having good judges. Happy to see the reset given. Phil has a good eye there. Nice cutting by the competitors!

The second camera angle is rather annoying and makes it harder to see what's going on. But the bout itself is pretty nice to watch and I particularly like the refereeing -- look like it lets the fencers do just enough self-calling without too much rules-lawyering.

This is fantastic. Unfortunately HEMA won't take off as a spectator sport (and get really popular) until tournaments work out the problems with filming bouts. It's just too fast to follow w/o a very good replay system. It's complicated because the judges need to get the best angles to see the fight, but that means they frequently obscure the action.
